Tell me a little bit about you…

Hello I’m Guy, 33 and live in Oxfordshire. I’m a dad and ultra trail runner.

Do you consider yourself to have any mental health issues?

Absolutely!

I have had a few challenges over the years. Most recently learning to cope with the loss of one of our twin boys.

How do you think getting outside improves mental health?

For me it gives me time and space to gather my thoughts. I like to think of it as adventuring through adversity. It’s time I can have to myself  and decompress. It’s the best classroom in the word!

Has someone ever initiated a conversation about their mental health with you and if so, can you tell me a little bit about this?

Yes- but rather not comment.

Do you have a favourite place to go when you need some downtime, if so where?

I have a run close to home which is a great route. It gives you a little bit of everything.. woodland, river, trail, hills. I’d say that’s a firm favourite when feeling meh! But some days just a stint in the garden ticks the box!

Finally – What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a desert island where all your food and water needs were taken care of?

Hammock & Trail shoes :)
